Privacy policy

ClipToPrep is a browser extension for browsing and practicing publicly available practice questions. This policy explains what data the extension handles and what choices you have. ClipToPrep is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by College Board®.

If you don't create an account

You can browse and practice without an account. In that case no data leaves your device: question lists are cached in your browser for speed, your graded answers from the current session are held only on your device (so they can be attached to an account if you later sign up on that device), and nothing is sent to our servers.

If you create an account

Signing in enables progress tracking. We then store, tied to your account:

• Email address and password — for authentication only. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never visible to us.
• Practice results — for each question you answer: the question's public ID, the answer you gave, whether it was correct, timing, practice mode, and a timestamp.
• Saved questions — the public IDs of questions you bookmark.
• Activity events — how you use the app: questions viewed, practice runs and timed modules started/finished, filters applied, questions saved, features opened (e.g. the calculator), and app opens. Events contain only question IDs, category codes, counts, durations, and timestamps.

We use this data to show you your own progress (accuracy, coverage, streaks) and to improve the product — including building study recommendations based on practice patterns. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

What we never collect

• Question content (questions, answer choices, explanations) — the extension displays it in your browser directly from its public source; it never passes through or is stored on our servers.
• Your browsing history, location, contacts, or anything outside the extension.
• Data from users who are not signed in.

Third parties

• Supabase hosts our database and authentication.
• Resend delivers our transactional email (confirmation and password-reset messages).
• The optional graphing/scientific calculator is the Desmos website embedded in a frame; opening it loads desmos.com, which is governed by Desmos's own privacy policy. No ClipToPrep data is shared with Desmos.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the extension's Account page — this permanently removes your account and all associated data (practice results, saved questions, activity events) from our servers and from the device you delete from. There is no recovery.

Children

ClipToPrep is a study tool used by students, including minors. We collect the minimum data needed for the features above, never sell it, never use it for advertising, and provide full self-service deletion.

Changes

We'll update this page when the policy changes and note the date above. Material changes to what we collect will be reflected here before they take effect.
